MLIB letter to the people regarding COVID 19

To all MLIB Membership:

Amid ongoing concerns about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak around the world and close to home, I want to update you about what MLIB is doing to navigate the situation.

First, I want to emphasize we are open for business and fully operational.  The Band has taken steps to ensure we will be able to continue to carry out our work for you under changing circumstances.

We have a robust continuity plan in place and have taken precautionary measures to ensure the health and well-being of our band member clients, MLIB team members and families.

We have made it a priority to monitor the situation closely and are prepared to respond to the rapidly changing nature of this pandemic. Should the need arise, our staff members are able to work remotely, supported by our IT infrastructure.

Our team members continue to be available to connect with you by phone, email or in person, as you are able.

MLIB has instituted rigorous cleaning protocols in our Band offices to ensure a safe environment for our staff members and clients. We are monitoring Health Canada recommendations around workplace wellness and safety and will adapt our approach as required.

To limit the potential impact of COVID-19, MLIB has instituted a travel curtailment and mandated self-isolation for any team member showing symptoms, or who have reason to believe they have been exposed. We also are deferring social events and large meetings and leveraging technology to hold virtual meetings.

I sincerely believe clear communication plays a critical role during these challenging times, and the Band is committed to ongoing communications as the situation evolves.

We greatly value community health and safety; a safe working relationship with MLIB is our priority. Please contact our office if you have any questions.
